Not a wallflower…she is colorful and light, clear and intentional. Comfortable, constant, steady and strong- a lover and a listener- drawn to nature and the beauty of the elements that surround her.

In so many of my paintings, I symbolize the strength of a woman by putting lots of visual emphasis on her head. The amount of flowers Josephine carries on her head represents the tremendous strength of this woman.

The original painting has a layer of tiny glass beads surfacing the top, and I loved how it uniquely resembled salt from the sea here. The prints capture the texture and imperfections of that beading and although there is no dimension and shimmer like in the original, the salty surface on the painterly background is still evident and beautiful. So happy with how this turned out.
